Sanford is a 5 year old boy going on 40. A quiet boy, he's shy and his smiles are rare gifts. He acts like an adult who's lived a long life, ragged and weary. Rarely do you witness them cry or play.
But every so often, you catch it. The phantom tears which created channels through his dust powdered cheeks. Peering through a cracked window to see him in solitary play, making sounds children love to make. When he speaks, it is soft, gentle, sweet. When he giggles, your heart rests.
Behind the scenes, Sanford is a child. He cries, plays, imagines. He feels.
Many miss it.
But God never missed it.
God never fails to see his children's tears, their laughter, longings, or fears. He is all-knowing, and his love is all-encompassing. He does not miss a beat.
He promises us that one day, he will wipe away every tear from our eyes.
Everything will be made right.
Everything will be at peace.
"The phantom tears which created channels through his dust powdered cheeks." what an image!
ReplyDeleteYour heart is like Christ's Kristen. As Jesus does, you see the little boy that many people overlook and you care for him as Jesus would.
